Madge Evelyn Hale was born May 17, 1931 to Ralph and Irene Shirley and passed from this life on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the age of 85 years.
Madge married Gene Hale on February 19, 1955 and to this union they had two sons, Paul David and Danny Ray. She taught school at Pernell, Hughes and Lindsay from 1952 to 1995. Madge retired in 1995 to her farm, flower shop, feed store, and later became a caregiver.
Madge was known to many as the "hat lady." She loved her hats and brightly colored clothes; they just matched her personality.
Madge is survived by her son Paul Hale of Maysville; brother David Shirley of Woody Chapel; sister Rowena Combs of Moore; numerous nieces and nephews, aunt, uncle and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Hale; son Danny Hale; parents Ralph and Irene Shirley; and her grandparents.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the United Pentecostal Holiness Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Rev. Merle Dry and Rev. George Witter officiating.
Interment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster funeral Home.
