Larry Hester, 76, passed away on January 29, 2017 at 12:48 p.m. in Stratford, Okla. He was in the home surrounded by family.
Mr. Hester was born on June 19, 1940 in Quincy, Ill., to parents John and Florence Hester. He attended Gem City College and became a certified horologist.
He married Carol Turner in 1970. They lived in Chicago, Ill., for 15 years where Larry worked as a watchmaker/jeweler. They had two children, Michael and Robin.
In 1987, the Hesters moved to Pauls Valley, Okla., where they were to spend their remaining years.
Larry worked for Norton's Jewelry for over 20 years. He was a member of Valley Christian Church where he served as a board member for two years. He retired in 2003 and dedicated his time to remodeling his home and spending more time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Hester was an artistic man that enjoyed oil painting, engraving glass art and hand-crafting belt buckles. He also enjoyed walking in the park.
Mr. Hester is survived by his wife, Carol; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ruby Hester; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Joe Gordon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Twila, brother Roy and grandson C.J.
A memorial will take place on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Church in Pauls Valley, Okla. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Hester's life.
