Jimmie L. Wimberly of Pauls Valley passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 1, 2017 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.
Jimmie was born March 11, 1932 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Perry Richard and Mandy Ellen (Van Horn) Wimberly.
He was raised in the Hull Bend community in the Pauls Valley area. Jimmie attended school at Whitebead and upon his 8th grade graduation entered Pauls Valley High School graduating in 1952.
In 1952, he entered the United States Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean War. In 1956, he was discharged from the regular Air Force. On December 27, 1958, he and Carla Kinser were married in Gainesville, Texas.
For many years he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) in Garvin County; he retired in 1997 as superintendent of the Garvin County ODOT. His hobbies included the love of old cars and John Deere tractors.
This area has been his home all his life and since 1943 has been a member of the Whitebead Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ellen Wimberly; and a brother, Richard Fomby Wimberly.
Surviving family include his wife of over 58 years, Carla Wimberly of the home; their daughter and husband, Debbie and Leslie Sims; one granddaughter and husband, Melissa and Don May; one great grandson, Maverick May; a brother and wife, Don and June Wimberly, all of Pauls Valley; as well as a nephew and wife, Dickie and Sherry Wimberly of Chelsea, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance, officiated by Pastor Dennis Yates.
