Jim Pearce of Stratford passed away August 25, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years.
Jim was born August 23, 1945 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to James Wilson Pearce Sr. and Gracie Mae (Haney) Pearce. He was raised in the Stratford area, attended Stratford schools and is a Stratford High School graduate.
In 1967, he entered the United States Army and served a tour of duty from 1967 until 1969. He is a veteran of Vietnam. He began his career with the U.S. Postal Service and worked until his retirement as a letter carrier.
Jim was married to Earnestine Elaine Matthews in Stratford, Oklahoma on January 28, 1979. He was a member of Word of Life Church in Pauls Valley. Among his activities he truly loved to deer hunt, but even more he greatly loved spending as much time with this wife, children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger and always put others before himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wilson Sr. and Gracie Mae Pearce; and his brothers, Rick Pearce and Lynn Pearce.
Surviving family include his wife, Elaine Pearce, children Lyle Pearce and Jessica Pearce, all of Stratford; three granddaughters: Atlantis Christine Woody, Talana Annette Woody, and Jasline Anastasia Moore; a brother, George Pearce and his wife Debbie of Lake Tahoe, Nevada; sister-in-law, Jolene Pearce of Stratford; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance.
