Clyde's Story

Text size

"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." — Abraham Lincoln
Clyde Andrew Sweat, 56, died unexpectedly in Pauls Valley on March 6, 2017.
Clyde was born in Carmel, California on July 15, 1960, son to Wanda Jo (Knox) Sweat and Andrew Cleveland Sweat.
Clyde's early years were in Seaside, California where the family often went on camping and fishing trips. He played baseball, football and attended Monterey High School and as a teenager he moved with his father to Pauls Valley from Seaside, California.
Clyde graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1978. He worked for many years in construction alongside his father and later took a job at the State School. He returned to Seaside, California where he owned and operated a Yellow Cab for nearly 12 years before returning to where he loved, his Pauls Valley roots. In recent years, he managed several rental properties in the Pauls Valley area.
Clyde was a very personably individual, always saying hello and checking in on how you were doing while sprinkling in a few funny stories along the way. Clyde had many friends in both the Monterey Peninsula and Pauls Valley that will miss him. Clyde lived life large and lived it his way.
Clyde enjoyed spending time outdoors, grilling, fishing, tending to the many species of animals he called pets and taking care of his own vegetable garden each summer and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He took a 5-mile dog walk every day, and on Sundays, it was the movies with his best friend and cousin John Crawford.
Clyde was preceded in death by his father Andrew Cleveland Sweat and step-mother Cheyenne Sweat.
He is survived by his wife Michelle; mother Wanda Jo Gamez of Seaside, California; brother David Fink of San Francisco, California; sister Dana Womack of Prescott, Arizona; sons Waylon Sweat of Santa Maria, California, and Andrew "AD" Sweat of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; daughters Jessica Carnell of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Lacy Stamp of Clayton, Oklahoma, Amber Flatt of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Samantha Sweat of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; cousins John Crawford of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, John Knox of Seaside, California, and Bob Knox of Seaside, California.
To celebrate Clyde's life, family and friends are invited to a come-and-go gathering/barbeque at Wacker Park Pavilion on Wednesday March 29, 2017. Please come and share your stories with everyone.
