Vera Mae McCarty, 89, a life-long resident of the Whitebead community, joined her family in heaven on June 20, 2017 after a life full of love for her friends, neighbors, church family and more recently healthcare workers and residents and staff of Donihoo-Colley and Washita Valley Living Center.
Vera's nieces and nephews wish to thank every member of the community that took such good care of her that she was able to live in her own home until her mid-80s and then continued to love and care for her as she transitioned to living at Donihoo-Colley.
Her family is touched that her community was always there for her. Whenever Vera had a need, someone always came to her aid. Thank you.
Vera was predeceased by her husband of 50 plus years, Royal "Redlow" McCarty; her parents, Francis M. "Randy" and Mattie Mae Pickel; and seven siblings and their spouses.
She leaves many nieces, nephews and kids that she loved. Although her physical presence will be missed she'll always be with us as we each remember her. Her family hopes her friends will find comfort in their wonderful memories of Vera and knowing that she cared very much for you.
Vera desired that her body be donated to science in the hope of finding a cure for cancer. A memorial service was held June 22, 2017 at the Donihoo-Colley Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Whitebead Methodist Church or Whitebead Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 323, Pauls Valley, OK 73075.
