Text size

Shirley James Huddleston, 82, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017 at the Washita Valley Living Center in Pauls Valley.
Shirley was born in Dallas, Texas on March 21, 1935, and she and her husband spent some time in Denver, Colorado before moving to Pauls Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Huddleston of Pauls Valley.
Surviving is her niece, Kelsey Huddleston Herrell, husband and two children; and her brother-in-law, Don Huddleston.
She will be dearly missed by her loyal friend and neighbor, Keith Beam.
In 1987 she became the secretary of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Pauls Valley, where she remained until 2015 when her health forced her to retire. As secretary she went above and beyond her duties as she was known to take people to the doctor or help wherever she was needed.
Shirley loved crafts, especially stuffed teddy bears and decorative candles. In her spare time she worked with Samaritans and Angel Tree.
She especially loved to keep up with her favorite church family - Tim, Paula and Treston Williams - as she faithfully followed Treston's school and church events from kindergarten to OU. Another family she was fond of was Brad and Jana Mayes and their children.
Shirley will be missed by her many friends.
Memorial services will be held at First Christian Church, 300 N. Ash, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, on Thursday, July 13 at 11 a.m.
