Phyllis Jan Roller

Phyllis Jan Roller, 69, a resident of Dunnellon, Florida, passed away on May 30, 2019. Phyllis was a medical social worker and singer/songwriter. She loved to perform to an audience whether it was an audience of one or a hundred and one.
Despite her many medical challenges, Phyllis continued to battle on erasing her pain with song writing and playful characters she created.
Phyllis was born to Henry C. and Catherine (Blackwood) Roller. She was a graduate of Elmore City, Oklahoma High School; East Central University in Ada, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, and the University of Tennessee in Nashville, where she earned a Master of Social Work degree.

Phyllis performed at venues across the country under the stage name of Tia Shawnte'. One of her highlights was performing at the Bluebird Café in Nashville. She received several commendations for her song "Native Son" in an effort to bring attention to social injustice and environmental awareness.
Phyllis was a proud citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
Some of her family's and friends' greatest joys was hearing her laugh (a full body laugh) and her compassion for the underdog.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Beverley Rankin of Blanchard, Okla.; brothers - Jerry Roller of Wayne, Okla., and Randy (Nanette) Roller of Norman, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special in her life was longtime friend and devoted caregiver, Margo Wilson of Dunnellon, Florida, and Trevin and Jenean Cooper of Orlando, Florida.
