Marilyn's Story

Marilyn Sue Hammond of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Orval and Norma (Hawkins) Williams on November 6, 1945 in Centralia, Illinois and passed from this life on April 21, 2017 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years.
Marilyn grew up and attended school at Walnut Hill, Illinois. She attended Mid-America Vo-Tech in Wayne, Oklahoma where she obtained her LPN license. She worked at the Wynnewood Nursing Home and Pauls Valley General Hospital for many years, retiring in 2009.
On November 6, 1981, Marilyn married Floyd Hammond in Stephens County, Oklahoma. In her spare time she enjoyed drawing, watching hummingbirds, drinking coffee, and visiting with friends and family. The highlight of her life was time spent with her grandchildren and family. She had a huge heart. She would help anyone that needed help.
Mrs. Hammond is survived by 4 sons: Mike Sanders of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Tony Childress of Illinois, Curtis Hammond of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and Johnathan Hammond of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 4 daughters: Kim Childress of Illinois, Lee Ann Childress of Illinois, Kelly Kibe of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and Becky Sanders and Quenzell of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Debbie Meyers and Tony of Illinois; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Hammond; daughter Rhonda Childress; parents Orville and Norma Williams; 2 brothers: Steve Williams and Stan Williams; and 1 sister, Carolyn Arning.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wynnewood, Okla., with Rev. Larry Cornforth officiating.
