Loretta's Story

Loretha L. Battles of Oklahoma City passed away February 4, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.

Loretha was born December 27, 1931 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Jesse and Willie (Reynolds) Riggle. She grew up in the Wynnewood and Elmore City area and is a graduate of Elmore City High School.

She and Robert Samuel Battles were married in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 31, 1949. They made their home in Pauls Valley where she has lived most of her life. For the past three years she has lived in Oklahoma City to be closer to her family.

She was a bookkeeper in her husband's business and a homemaker who always loved taking care of her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley.

Loretha was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Willie Riggle; her husband, Robert Samuel Battles Sr.; one brother, Alfred Riggle; and one sister, Dorothy Smith.

Surviving family include her three children: Mike Battles and wife Janet of Edmond, Bobby Battles and wife Karen of Mustang, and Karen Dawson and husband Bill of Baldwin, Missouri; four granddaughters: Blaire Harrison and husband Kyle, Lili Giles and husband Jacob, Emily Dawson and husband Hugo Hurtado, and Kathryn Cobet and husband David; five great-grandsons: Kase Harrison, Reid Harrison, Tomas Hurtado, Lucas Hurtado and Ethan Cobet; four brothers: J.T. Riggles and wife Gina of Oak Harbor, Washington, Floyd Riggle and wife Emma of McLoud, Sammy Riggles and wife Edy of Choctaw, and Gerald Riggle and wife Roann of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister, Metha June of California; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at graveside services officiated by Pastor Bryan Trant. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
