Leslie Thurman Etchison of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, better known as L.T., was born to Cliff and Altha (Cummings) Etchison on January 8, 1936 in Steiner, Texas and passed from this life on Friday, September 16, 2016 at his home near Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years.
L.T. grew up and attended school in Kopperl, Texas. On May 17, 1954, L.T. married Betty Jean Adams in Fort Worth, Texas.
He enjoyed work at the Hunnington Sheridon Hotel in Pasadena, California in his early years. L.T. also farmed and ranched most of his life in which he enjoyed so much. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and spending time in his workshop. He also enjoyed repairing anything that needed fixing for people, and gardening, in which he shared with people, neighbors and friends.
L.T. was always a hard worker and would always help anyone that needed help. His daughter said the Lord gave me the best daddy there was and his sons say he was their best buddy. Also in L.T.'s last few months he enjoyed praying for people.
Mr. Etchison is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; 3 sons: Lee Etchison of Texas, L.T. "Tom" Etchison of Rio Vista, Texas, and Wesley Etchison and Amber Cheatam of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, JoAnn Parten and husband Jerry of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 3 sisters: Pauline Brazwell of Keen, Texas, Pearl Hardin of Kopperl, Texas, and Oniell Todd of Kopperl, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Etchison was preceded in death by daughter, Bonnie Jean Etchison; granddaughter, Mandy Jean Etchison; parents Cliff and Altha Etchison; 5 brothers: J.C., George Ed, Bob Nathaniel, Meral, and Billy Ray; and sister, Martha Shivers.
