L.G. Van Schuyver of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Louis and Florence (Haney) Van Schuyver on July 17, 1923 in Chism, Oklahoma and passed from this life on June 8, 2017 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years.
He grew up in the Chism, Okla., area and went to grade school during the Depression. His family moved to California for his father to find work. L.G. served in World War II with the Army.
After he returned home he married and moved to California to find work. Returning to Oklahoma after the birth of his third son he started his career for Colvert Diary in Ardmore.
Then later he moved to McAlester, Okla., for his work as a milkman in the days of horse-drawn wagons, then to motorized delivery truck. He was also at the Army Ammunition Depot near McAlester and the transportation supervisor where he retired.
L.G. was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Purcell, Okla., then in Pauls Valley, Okla. He loved working in the yard and gardening.
As a Christian he taught others to Love the Lord and follow him always.
Mr. Van Schuyver is survived by his sons: Bobby L.G. VanSchuyver and wife Ann, James Carl VanSchuyver and wife Judy, and Larry Gene Van Schuyver and wife Penny; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; Oklahoma nieces and nephews: Joe Darrell Hobson and wife Sharon, Diana Sullivan and husband Pat, Teresa Kitchens and husband John, Melanie Porter and husband Dennis, Wesley Conaster and wife Tippy, Beverly Sadler and husband Mike; and n a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Mr. Van Schuyver was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie "Veta" Van Schuyver on September 20, 2011; and parents Louis and Florence Van Schuyver.
Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley, Okla., with Bro. David Rodriguez officiating. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
