Juanita (Ashley) Foote, 94, passed away in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Sunday, February 19, 2017.
She was born May 21, 1922 near the Daylight community in Garvin County, Okla. She was the second of eight children born to Clyde V. and Carolyn M. (Phipps) Ashley.
As a young lady, she married G.H. Foote. After her divorce Juanita lived in the Glendale, Calif., area where she remained most of her adult life working as a bookkeeper for her close friend, Tom's, florist shop, a ballroom dance instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studio and later as a caregiver for a friend. She returned to Oklahoma about 2005.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon and Tipton Ashley; and baby sister, Gloria.
She is survived by sisters Ona Mae Loftis of Maysville, Okla., June Hardy of Oklahoma City and Jackie Casto of Wichita, Kansas; a brother, Billy Ashley of Bokchito, Okla.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ashley of Murrieta, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Sooner Hospice in OKC, especially her nurse, Carla, social worker, Kelsey, and the aides who cared for Juanita. All of them have been compassionate and caring to Juanita and her family during Juanita's illness over the past year.
Visitation will be at Wooster Funeral Home in Pauls Valley on Thursday, February 23, 2017 with a graveside service and burial following at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley.
