Joyce's Story

Joyce V. Penuel of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Lewis A. and Ruby (Garland) Davis on April 13, 1929 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and passed from this life on May 3, 2016 at her home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years. Joyce grew up and attended school in Russell, Kansas. On November 21, 1956, she married Norvel E. Penuel in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Joyce served as secretary for various businesses. She was employed with Physicians and Surgeons in Pauls Valley for 22 years. She retired as secretary/bookkeeper at First United Methodist Church in Pauls Valley where she has been a lifelong member. Later Joyce worked at Wooster Funeral Home as a visitation attendant/secretary. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and sewing. The highlights of her life were her children, grandchildren, and many friends. Mrs. Penuel is survived by her children: Stephen G. Penuel of Austin, Texas, Sidney Jeanne Penuel Canfield and husband Bob of Norman, Oklahoma, and Michael D. Penuel of Palm Springs, California; 2 grandchildren: David Penuel and wife Alli of Richardson, Texas, and Julie Toussaint and husband Marcus of Richardson, Texas; 4 great-grandchildren: Chapman Penuel, Cole Penuel, Annabelle Penuel and Rory Toussaint; grother Lewis A. Davis Jr. and wife Rita of Edmond, Oklahoma; niece Kelley Bendle; and nephews Jay Davis and Steve Cammack. Mrs. Penuel was preceded in death by her husband Norvel Penuel and parents L.A. and Ruby Davis. Graveside funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send a condolence to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
