Johnny's Story

Johnny Lee Horn, of Pauls Valley, passed away August 16, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years.

John was born February 5, 1942 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Lois and Helen (Johnson) Horn. He was raised in Bristow, Oklahoma and is a graduate of the Bristow High School. He served a tour of duty during the Vietnam era and is a Veteran of the United States Army.

John met and married Darlene Ward in Bristow, Oklahoma on March 13, 1966. They were blessed with three daughters, Regina, Rebecca and Rachelle. Darlene preceded him in death September 2, 2912. He worked for many years for Safeway and Homeland as a Butcher. Pauls Valley has been his home for the past 45 years. On February 8, 2014, he and Shirley O'Neal Norton were married at the Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.

John greatly loved his family, and enjoyed travelling. He was also an avid golfer. In 2009, he achieved every golfer's dream of a 'Hole In One'.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lois Horn; one brother, Jerry Horn; grandparents, Ace and Susie Horn and Eli and Moudie Johnson; brother in law, J. D. Chamber and John's first wife, Darlene Kay Horn.

His surviving family include his wife, Shirley Horn of the home; five children, Regina Whatley and husband, Shawn, of Paoli; Rebecca Wooley and husband, Justin, of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Rachelle Woodall and husband, Christopher, Sherry Pearson, and Richard Norton and wife, Gay, all of Pauls Valley; his mother, Helen Mae Pettypool of Okmulgee; five grandchildren, Cassidy Rodriguez and husband, Jerry, of Whitney, Texas; Shayna Pearson of London, England; Brittany Malone and husband, Tucker, of Edmond; Nikki Norton, and Jake Chapman, both of Pauls Valley; four great grandchildren, Vincent, Zane, Isabella, and Gabriel; four sisters, Mary Martin and husband, Bob, of Beggs; Linda Chambers of Mounds; Shirley Mudgett and husband, Brad, of Bristow; and Sandra Rice and husband, Mike, of Beggs; two brothers, Tony Horn and wife, Bambi, of Beggs; and Dale Horn and wife, Nina, of Preston.

The family requests that memorial be sent in memory of Johnny Lee Horn to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fun at PO Box 593, Pauls Valley, OK 73075.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Pastor Dwayne Johnson. Interment will be at Mt.
