John Henry Ledford, better known by his nickname, Dan, passed away September 30, 2017 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 80 years.
Dan was born January 24, 1937 in Rosedale, Oklahoma to Andrew Jackson (A.J.) and Alpha Lee (Aiken) Ledford.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Christina Ledford; his daughter, Dana and son, Daniel Ledford; his sister, Marie and her husband Len Ruotolo, and their two children, Joe and Susan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Alpha Ledford; and his brother Leroy Ledford.
Dan enlisted in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was proud to serve his country and took every chance to wear his Air Force uniform to celebrate Veterans Day. He and his wife retired from their business in California and in 2004 they moved to make their home in Missouri.
He loved to talk about Jesus, sing Christian hymns and play guitar and piano. Friends have commented that he was a very kind person with such an outgoing and gregarious spirit and was a joy to everybody he met.
Graveside memorial services will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Clabber Flats Cemetery between Pauls Valley and Stratford, Oklahoma. His final resting place will be near his parents and many other relative at the Clabber Flats Cemetery.
Local services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. Services for cremation were conducted in Missouri.
