Services for Sulphur businessman Jimmy Lee "Jim" Freeman, 72, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at Crossway Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home.
Jim was born May 8, 1945 in Plainview, Texas to Fred W. and Fern Alene (Ivey) Freeman. He passed away Monday, January 1, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 72 years, seven months and 23 days.
On July 3, 1976, he married Diane (Hussey) Freeman in Sulphur.
After living in Hale Center, Texas and Asher, Okla., Jim moved with his family to Sulphur in 1958. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1963.
Jim was a graduate of OSU with a degree in animal science. He worked for Freeman Livestock Auction for 55 years before it sold in 2013. Jim continued in the auctions business with Freeman Real Estate and Auction Service. He was a member of Crossway Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jane Fowler.
Jim is survived by his wife, Diane Freeman of Sulphur; a daughter and son-in-law, Staci Bettes and Brandon of Stillwater; two sons - Scott Freeman and wife Valta of Stillwater, and Cale Freeman and wife Lyndsey of Edmond; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jo Freeman of Sulphur; and three grandchildren - Sophia Freeman, Nora Freeman and Lillian Freeman.
Serving as pallbearers were Darin Rogers, Bob Hussey, Colin Hussey, Joe McGowen, Curt Larson, and Dr. Randy Williams.
Honorary bearers were Jerry Brown, Tom Payne, Robbie Strahan, Allen Baker, Fred Lamb, and Jerry Pettitt.
