Jettie's Story

"Jettie" (Letha DeJettie) Smith of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Grover Edward and Cynthia Ethel (McGee) NcNeill on February 7, 1923 in Elmore City, Oklahoma and passed from this life on January 16, 2018 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years.
Jettie grew up and attended school in the Elmore City area. She worked at the Pauls Valley State School for many years as a caregiver.
Jettie married Melvin Smith and together they made their home in Wynnewood and Elmore City. In her spare time, she enjoyed crochet, quilting, puzzles and spending time with her beloved dogs.
Mrs. Smith is survived by 6 grandchildren: Sheila Little of Alaska, Calvin Ivey and Gina of Elmore City, Oklahoma, Leatha Rogers and Michael of Davis, Oklahoma, Matthew Watson and Darla of Davis, Oklahoma, Heath Watson and his wife Rachel of Maysville, Oklahoma, and Rodney Watson and his wife Angel of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; 1 daughter-in-law, Toni Watson of Wynnewood, Okla.; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren; and 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Smith, son James O. Watson, daughter Judy Ruth Mabry, parents Grover and Cynthia McNeill, and sister Mary Williams.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Joe Terrell officiating.
