Erma Jean Vann of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Jack and Opal Florence (Bonner) Cook on April 24, 1931 in Madill, Oklahoma and passed from this life on February 17, 2016 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.
Erma Jean grew up in Kingston and Tulsa, Okla. She attended college at Southeastern in Durant, Okla., and obtained her master's degree in Elementary Education from OU.
On August 23, 1948, she married Charles Vann in Sherman, Texas, and have been married for the past 69 years.
In 1953, they moved to Pauls Valley, where she taught elementary school for over 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
She also helped in managing Charlie's campaigns for the Oklahoma House of Representative and Oklahoma Senate.
The most important thing that she taught others about life was to believe in yourself, and that life was an adventure. Mrs Vann was always giving of herself and to others.
Mrs Vann is survived by her husband, Charles Vann of the home; son, Bill Vann and his wife Tracy of Coalgate, Okla.; and grandson, Bryson Vann of Ada, Okla.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
