Don F. Kidd, 90, of Ardmore, Okla., died peacefully September 17, 2016 with his wife Betty and son Greg by his side. Don was born October 28, 1925 in Pauls Valley, Okla., son of Fred and Minnie Clare Kidd.
A 1943 graduate of Pauls Valley High School, he entered the Army Air Corps and flew 21 missions in hostile territory with the Eighth Air Force as a Ball Turret Gunner.
In 1947 he married Betty Ruth Witten from Anadarko in Oklahoma City, rearing three sons - Jeffrey, Gregory, and Mark.
At St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, Don served as deacon and an elder while also teaching a teenage boys' Sunday School class. Don was an avid golfer and loved coaching his sons in basketball, football and baseball.
In Oklahoma City Don worked for Liberty National Bank and three abstract companies before retiring in 1996 and moving to Ardmore. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore.
He and wife, Betty, would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on September 20, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sons Jeff and Mark.
Survivors include his wife Betty Ruth Witten Kidd of the home; son Greg Kidd of Ardmore; granddaughter Keri Kidd Roos, her children Avery Lowe, Catharine Roos, and Caroline Roos all of Sulphur; grandson Dylan Kidd, Amanda Campbell and their son Konnor Kidd all of Edmond; daughter-in-law Leslie Kidd, wife of the late Mark Kidd, of Edmond; grandson Travis Kidd of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Jordan Kelley and husband Brian Kelley, and their children William and Grace all of Oklahoma City.
A time of visitation and support for family and friends was Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations to be made to the Military Memorial Museum in Ardmore, Okla., in memory of Don Kidd.
