Delta's Story

Delta Mae Fowler of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Henry Elmer and Loretta (Cosby) Mathis on July 25, 1929 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and passed from this life on May 9, 2017 at her home near Elmore City at the age of 87 years.
Delta grew up and attended school at Hughes and Love. On July 29, 1946 she married Hershell Fowler in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. In her spare time she enjoyed canning, sewing, and making quilts. Mrs. Fowler loved cooking for others and having Sunday dinner.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by her sons: Herman Chesley Fowler and wife Mary of Maysville, Oklahoma, and Thurman Leslie (Curly) Fowler and wife Twila of Elmore City, Oklahoma; daughter, Florence Evelyn Russell and husband Clarence (Coon) of Elmore City, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Melvin Mathis and wife Lois of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and James Mathis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Leoma Baxter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. All kids were affectionately known as her grandchildren and she had a host of other family and friends.
Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Hershell Fowler; parents, Henry and Loretta Mathis; 1 brother, Kenneth Mathis; and 1 sister, Vinnie Marie Sanders.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Antioch Cemetery with Bro. Clyde Quick officiating. Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
