Chester C. “Mike” Barnes of Wynnewood, Oklahoma was born to William Thomas and Carrie Opal (Smith) Barnes on February 25, 1940 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma passed from this life on May 9, 2016 at his home at the age of 76 years. Mike grew up and attended school at Roady and Wynnewood. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Mike worked for Jones Drilling and Chester’s Hot Oil Service for many years. On September 16, 1983, he married Laveta Ann Moore in Gainesville, Texas. He was a member of Katie Victory Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. The highlight of his life was his grandkids. Mr. Barnes is survived by his son: Mikey Joe Barnes; 2 daughters: Tammie Jo Green of Davis, Oklahoma, and Julie Ann Burks and husband Pat Goldsby of Goldsby, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren: Bradley Green, Matthew Green, Autumn Brooks, Dillon Burks, Carrie Burks, Billy Shipp and Rhiannon Shipp; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mary Horton of Ratliff City, Oklahoma, and Bessie Wells of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife Laveta Barnes; daughter Tawana Barnes; parents William and Carrie Barnes; 3 brothers: Bill, Tommie and Lester; and 2 sisters: Maxine Dean and Tressie Shaw. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Katie Victory Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Beckham officiating.
