Events

Cecil Ray Croom, 80, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 in Austin, Texas.
Ray was an active member of Anderson Mill Baptist Church. At Anderson Mill, he was active in the benevolent ministry of the church as manifested through his work with the Billy Graham crusade.
He left his eternal mark on others by leading numerous bible studies and small groups. Ray believed that the church was never stronger than when it is united with one common goal, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ray was born on September 1, 1938 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He graduated from Elmore City High School in 1956 and lived over 50 years in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma only to be interrupted by a brief four-year stint in Alaska while he was in the Army.
Ray married Kay Hutchins on June 20, 1958 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Ray worked for 25 years for Wacker's variety store with increasing responsibility and ultimately as the project manager for store acquisition and development. Ray relocated with his wife to Austin, Texas on September 10, 1992.
Ray's talents were many. He loved to invest and enjoyed keeping up with the stock market every day. Ray was a wonderful gardener, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, community volunteer and friend.
Ray loved to watch the University of Oklahoma football, especially on those weekends when the games were against the Longhorns of Texas.
Ray was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects. He connected with people through his "gift to gab," great personality, and heart for others which was truly a gift from God.
Ray felt there was a beauty and a satisfaction in seeing the results of God's work in people. He believed there is a peacefulness that comes over us as we care for and nurture others.
Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Kay Croom, and his parents Millard and Lela Croom.
Ray is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Mike and Margaret Croom, his two grandsons Corbin and Aaron, his sister Ann Patton, and brother Dan Croom. Ray leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019 in the Fellowship Hall at Anderson Mill Baptist Church, 10633 Lake Creek Pkwy, Austin, Texas, with Rev. Rod Minor officiating.
Additional memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church, 108 Loftin Lane, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends after the service.
