Carrie's Story

Carrie Lathel Lauderdale of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Earnest Joice and Lois (Main) Mercer on October 8, 1938 and passed from this life on February 14, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years.
Lathel grew up and attended school in Elmore City, Oklahoma. She worked for 28 years for the Pauls Valley State School. Lathel loved her church family at the Church of Christ. She was an avid OU Sooner fan. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with friends and family.
Lathel loved serving and giving of herself to others. She was selfless, not selfish. The highlight of her life was her family.
Mrs. Lauderdale is survived by her son, James Alan Lauderdale and wife Sue of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Vickie March and husband Efton of Garland, Texas; sisters: Mary Poore and her daughter Misty of Elmore City, Oklahoma, Connie Acord of Decatur, Texas, and Patsy Clark and husband Paul of Lakeland, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mrs. Lauderdale was preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Lois Mercer, brothers Larry Dean Mercer and Bill Mercer, and sister Gay Dickerson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Joe Terrell officiating.
Interment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
