Boyd G. Perry of Stratford, Oklahoma was born January 2, 1921 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Charley Baker Perry and Ermine (Jones) Perry. He passed away August 13, 2016 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 11 days. Boyd grew up in Stratford and he joined the Army Air Corps and served our country during WW II. He was privileged to be chosen to be a part of the Oklahoma Honor flight to Washington, D.C. in 2014. He was married to the love of his life Marguerite Freeman on June 14, 1942 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He lived this 95 1/2 years, and 88 of those were in Stratford. He was a long time member of the Stratford Church of Christ. He was a butcher at Freeman’s Grocery & Dry Goods and was an original storm chaser. He was responsible for the alarm to sound when an emergency arose. Boyd was the oldest living volunteer fire chief of Stratford and he helped Lonnie Mann, the town blacksmith, make the town’s first fire truck. He was also on the Board of Trustees for many years and helped Stratford to obtain an adequate water well north of town to supply the town with a full supply of much needed water. He loved Stratford and his many friends there. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marguerite in 1992 and one sister, Effie Lee Couch. He is survived by his children ‘Pam’ and Gene Thompson of Blanchard, Oklahoma, ‘Glynn’ and Valinda Perry of Grapevine, Texas and ‘Vicki’ and Bobby Rennie of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Sheila and Jennifer Thompson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Chris and Robert Samuel Tucker of Pauls Valley, Okla., Ben and Jay Perry of Grapevine, Texas; great-grandchildren Rylee and Corbin Tucker, Ava and Jesse Robert, Jackson and Ella Perry and Conner Gene Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at Church of Christ of Stratford, Oklahoma. Officiating is Bill Jones. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery in Stratford, Oklahoma.
