Boyd Gene Ashley of Wynnewood, Oklahoma was invited to go fishing in heaven with Jesus on January 20, 2017, Friday afternoon. He happily accepted the invitation.
Gene was born to Larry and Ruth (Rose) Ashley on February 26, 1955 in Wynnewood, Okla., at the age of 61 years. Gene accepted Jesus as his savior December 11, 2016.
On January 27, 1973, Gene married Beth Marie Washburn in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Gene was a fireman with Katie Volunteer Fire department for 12 years, retired from Uniroyal Tire in Ardmore and increased his hunting and fishing days at home.
No one loved the outdoors more than Gene. Even if he wasn't catching fish or shooting during hunting season he loved admiring God's handy work anywhere outside. Gene started a pheasant and quail business called Wild Horse Creek Shooting Sports. He loved taking hunters out to his land for an adventure.
The highlights of his life were his grandchildren Kiara and Makayla. Gene was a giver. Many neighbors and friends knew they could count on him night or day. He always strived to make others lives better.
Our deepest thanks to Life Spring home health who cared for Beth and Life Spring Hospice for the excellent care of Gene the brief week of his dying process. It is difficult to express appreciation for people who assisted with this process including Dr. Dennis Whitehouse and his nurse Melanie Shalver. As Gene said, "They're just good people."
Mr. Ashley is survived by his wife, Beth Marie Ashley of the home; sons: Allen Ashley and Jamie Ray Ashley both of Davis, Okla.; daughter, Marsha Trammel of Lindsay, Okla.; brothers: Larry Bob Ashley of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Kim Ashley of Lexington, Oklahoma; chosen brother, Darryl Wayne Rose; chosen sister, Nila Yvonne Rose of Moore, Okla.; 2 grandchildren, Kiara and Makayla; and also a host of family, hunting and fishing buddies, friends and neighbors.
