Angie's Story

Ann Janet "Angie" Cox Ballard, beloved family matriarch, passed away on August 8, 2017 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 85.
Angie was born in Oklahoma City on October 5, 1931 to Marcus Grover and Clara Elizabeth Melton Cox.
She spent her life in Oklahoma; attending primary school in Pauls Valley, high school at Holland Hall in Tulsa (Class of 1949), and received a BA in Business from the University of Oklahoma in 1953.
After college Angie made her home in Pauls Valley, marrying Carrol Clint Ballard in the First United Methodist Church on New Year's Eve 1954, and raising her five daughters at 521 East Bradley.
Angie loved Pauls Valley and dedicated many years to serving her community. Throughout her life Angie volunteered with PEO, taught swimming for the American Red Cross, participated in the Music Club, and the PTA.
Angie also loved serving in her church - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions within the church teaching children, youth, and women's organizations. She also served a mission in Albuquerque, New Mexico and loved to reminisce about her time there.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents, M.G. and Clara Cox; her sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Lou and A.F. "Slim" Meyer; as well as her husband Carrol Clint Ballard.
Angie is survived by her five daughters: Cari (Steve) Zawrotny of Yukon, Becky (Doug) Miller of Cedar Hills, Utah, Chris Johnson of Pauls Valley, Kitty (Alan) Butt of Orem, Utah, and Mia (Roger) Hamilton of Norman; her nieces and nephew, Julia (Dick) Hunt, Becky Meyer, Steve (Chris) Meyer, and Clara Winter; her 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 6 grand nieces and nephews; and 5 great-grand nieces and nephews.
Most importantly, Angie is survived by a legacy of service and compassion, and the importance of family, good food, and a love of OU football.
Funeral services will be held under the direction of Wooster's Funeral Home on Saturday, August 12th at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1100 S. Meridian Rd, Pauls Valley. All are invited to meet with Angie's family from 10 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley.
